Last night I had a long, vivid, totally crazy dream.
There was a nuclear war - that I am sure of. It was like I had slept through it all and woke up after the war had ended, but I knew without a doubt that it had happened. When I opened my eyes the sky was orange, the sand beneath me was purple. Everyone hadĀ disappeared, I had no idea where I was. Nothing much seemed to be left, it was just the strange new world and me. I looked up and saw no sun or clouds, nor a moon or stars. The sky was so bright with shifting orange colours it was as if the sun and sky were one.
I started walking and I soon saw dark shapes not far ahead of me and I found some old burned out cabins sitting on the edge of a strange lake. The water was beautiful, deep swirling greens lapped at the purple sand. Everything looked so lovely, but I felt uneasy and anxious standing outside. The cabins were charred and black in some spots, but still seemed sturdy, so I decided to look around.
It was like a monster or zombie movie, with warnings written on the walls that said ‘run’ or ‘not safe outside’. In the last cabin there was a trap door, so I lifted it. Down below a short ladder I could see a tunnel winding under the ground. Some part of me was telling me that I needed to follow it, so I climbed in and started down the tunnel. I knew I had to get to the end soon, but the faster I tried to go the slower my legs seemed to move. The air began to grow slightly colder as the tunnel sloped down and my legs began to feel heavier and heavier. I was growing tired and soon I couldn’t move, I was sitting with my back against the wall and I felt as though I were turning to stone. I started to fall asleep, and when I did I woke up in real life.
